A collision avoidance behavior model for crowd simulation based on psychological findings

چکیده
This paper proposes a collision avoidance behavior model for crowd simulation based on psychological findings of human behaviors such as gaze-movement angle (GMA), side stepping, gait motion, and personal reaction bubble (PRB) to get better results in crowd simulation. By calculating the GMA between agents, collision can be predicted and avoided without knowing the exact trajectories of the agents. The proposed model consists of four phases: (1) GMA-based collision prediction for mid/long range by using speed-variant Information Process Space (IPS), (2) collision avoidance steering, (3) gait-based locomotion generation, and (4) space-keeping based on PRB. The effectiveness of the proposed speed-variant IPS was tested on various types of agent flows with different densities. The total loss of kinetic energy accumulated during an agent’s movement and the ratio of the length of the path actually traveled to the length of the original path are used as key metrics to figure out the features between the different types of flows. Finally, examples of tuning the parameters with well-known fundamental diagrams are presented.

On Streams and Incentives: A Synthesis of Individual and Collective Crowd Motion
We present a crowd simulation model that combines the advantages of agent-based and flow-based paradigms while only relying on local information. Our model can handle arbitrary and dynamically changing crowd densities, and it enables agents to gradually interpolate between individual and coordinated behavior. Our model can be used with any existing global path planning and local collision-avoid...
متن کاملA behavioral dynamics approach to modeling realistic pedestrian behavior
Realistic models of locomotion, accounting for both individual pedestrian behavior and crowd dynamics, are crucial for crowd simulation. Most existing pedestrian models have been based on ad-hoc rules of interaction and parameters, or on theoretical frameworks like physics-inspired approaches that are not cognitively grounded. Based on the cognitively-plausible behavioral dynamics approach, we ...

For the past few years, several developments have been accomplished in crowd simulation. These kinds of simulations already used in films, games, walkthrough simulation and urban simulation. All these applications need an efficient and believability crowd simulation. This research will concern on one of the important parts in simulating the crowd namely collision avoidance. The importance of im...

This paper proposes a generic data-driven crowd modeling framework to generate crowd behaviors that can match the video data. The proposed framework uses a dual-layer mechanism to model the crowd behaviors. The bottom layer models the microscopic collision avoidance behaviors, while the top layer models the macroscopic crowd behaviors such as the goal selection patterns and the path navigation ...
متن کاملCollision Avoidance Series of Technique for Crowd Simulation
The simulation a group of human plays an important rule in many computer graphics application such as computer games and walkthrough system. One of the common terms that refer to this simulation of a group of human is crowd simulation. In order to create a realistic and believability crowd simulation, collision avoidance is one of the trivial issues. In recent years, there are many significant ...
